A PPA Program for everyone

Developed by an industry leading patent attorney

Protection. It’s the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind when they start working on any new product. A provisional patent application protects your idea for up to one year and allows you to label your idea as patent pending - an essential tool when marketing your idea and figuring out whether it will be profitable.

SmartIP is a new program from inventRight that makes the PPA process faster and easier than ever. You’ll be able to generate a strong provisional patent application without having to navigate the process yourself, or rely on an outside patent attorney.

Watch the video below to learn more about SmartIP!

We’ve been there; you have a new product idea, and the first thing that comes to your mind is protection. Everyone is afraid that someone will steal their new innovation!

Protecting your product idea is extremely important, but what many people don’t know is that a full patent isn’t always the right answer. At inventRight, we recommend filing a Provisional Patent Application (PPA) before you do anything else. It's an extremely affordable solution that, thanks to SmartIP, is now easy to do on your own.

In order for your PPA to have value, protect your product idea, and also reassure a potential licensee of its value, it has to be written to the highest standards.

Welcome to Smart IP by inventRight and Patent Attorney Gene Quinn.

SmartIP is a guided Provisional Patent Application program that will walk you through the process to draft and file a well written PPA on your own time, without additional attorney fees.

Gene will teach a class to get you started. He will talk you through all the steps necessary so you can fill out your first PPA and have the confidence that you've done it right each and every time. Protecting your product idea is the first thing you should do on the path to signing a licensing agreement. SmartIP is the solution you need to make sure you have done it correctly, and with the confidence you need to reach out to potential licensees - get started today to take your first steps on the path to market.

Gene Quinn is a patent attorney, law professor, and leading commentator on patent law and innovation policy. Gene’s writings typically focus on pending legislation, rule making at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and general commentary about the state of the industry. Gene practices patent law with Widerman Malek, and the majority of his patent practice is focused on software patents and Internet innovations. Since 2000 he has also been a principal lecturer in the PLI Patent Bar Review Course.

You'll need more than just a PPA to sell your ideas!
